I have a lot of friends who have worked or work at Kazu's Sushi. My best friend who worked there treated me once and after showing Kazu some of my work, he offered me $500 to do a painting! I think God really answered my prayer of that morning quickly and beyond my expectations. Anyhow, Kazu wanted me to do cats at a sushi bar. I modeled it a bit after the actual shop with some changes and additions. I made a point to put in some personal decorations he had up that I thought were really cute.

I told my friend, Brian, that he has been imortalized as a cat in a painting LOL. He's the assitant cook and my friend suggested doing him trying to mash the rice because he hates it (she's mystified at how accurately I apprently portrayed it). So he's the scrawny looking cat in the back lol. Kazu's cat was based around him. The orange cat/waiter is based off of one of the workers I know, Sean. The black and white cats are subtlety Midnite and Star. The others weren't based off of any one in particular. ^__^

This is a 3x4 painting on Maconite (sp?) board. Acrylic paints. I can't say how long this took me as I worked on it in bits and pieces across two months.
